Editing
Music editing is the art of joining together different takes from a recording session to create a convincing result. It is important to bear in mind that music editing is not the creation of notes nor does it involve changing notes which were not originally played.
All our recordings are captured onto hard disc and stored in digital form. The main advantage of such technology is that no longer are edits done by physically splicing tapes, so therefore whole process is non-destructive. This means that different edits can be quickly carried out and compared to ensure the best results.
We employ a three fold editing process for all our customers. Firstly our music editor will work closely with the producer to create an edit based on the score markings and instructions which were made during the recording. This is then sent to the artistes or performance director for their feedback. Based on this feedback a second edit will be created which is usually all that is necessary. At this point we embark on a “final touches” edit which will eliminate or reduce any noise such as clicks, creaks or page turns as far as possible which enhances the listening experience.
