Orchestral Recordings
The recording of a full orchestra is where our multi microphone, 16 channel setup comes into its own. Very few on location recording companies have enough high grade equipment to achieve this which gives us a distinct advantage over our competition. By using a combination of microphone placement techniques and a range of microphones including matched pairs by Earthworks and AKG, we are able to capture every detail of the performance.
As with all our recordings we always record at 24-bit/96kHz which captures approximately five times as much information as a commercial CD, which is 16-bit/44.1kHz. Consequently, the mix-down to a Redbook standard 16/44.1 commercial CD retains much of the warmth and depth of the performance. Additionally, we then have the original High Definition 24-bi /96kHz recordings archived for future use in surround and SACD or DVD-Audio.
Generally speaking we would record two 3 hour sessions on a single day depending on the amount of music to be recorded. With prices starting from as little as £499 this is a good time to make a professional recording which in turn will earn money for your orchestra.
