Why choose 4 Part Music?
We are often asked what makes us stand apart from our competition so we have listed some of the reasons why you should choose 4 Part Music for your next recording:
32 Channel Recording
We can currently record up to 32 channels ensuring we capture all the detail of your performance. That's not to say we always use all the 32 channels in the final mix, but it means we have the flexibility to close mic soloists and offer you a range of sounds to choose from in the final mix. Companies who turn up with a single soundfield microphone or a stereo pair have no chance of balancing the sound afterwards.
Bringing together musicians and technology
Recordings nowadays require a plethora of technology to create the best sound. There is more detail about that here. However, at 4 Part Music we also realise that our customers are musicians and only interested in the musicality of the performance and the recording. That's why our team is made up of both fully qualified sound engineers and professional musicians.
Production Desk
We always set up a seperate production desk which has controls for talk back (to communicate with the musicians) as well as the ability to play back takes either through speakers in the auditorium or multiple sets of headphones.
Internet Producer
If you want someone to help produce your session but they can't make it to the location then we can offer a live feed of the session over an internet connection (assuming one is available from the venue) to anywhere in the world of both video and audio.
Live Playback
As soon as the take is completed we can offer immediate live playback in the recording space of the take through either high quality studio speakers or a range of headphones to save the Music Director having to keep coming back to the engineering space.
Dealing with Large Venues
Because we use fibre technology our sound engineers can be located up to 2km away from the recording venue if there is no suitable space nearer. We can also record from one of our vans outside the venue if necessary.
Dealing with akward spaces (eg Cathedrals)
As specialists in on location recordings we are used to dealing with difficult venues and have designed a number of stands and suspension units so we can always place microphones in the optimum position. In some Cathedrals we have even had to suspend microphones in mid air using our custom designed suspension mounts.
