Another eagerly anticipated Recording was the recent CD ‘One Voice’ we recorded with Tideswell Male Voice Choir under the Direction of their multi talented Musical Direct Dennis Kay. The recording took place at the Hope Valley College in Derbyshire earlier this month on 15 and 16 February.
Like so many recordings with choirs, the recording session took place over 2 days but with all the choir staying or living locally we had a full complement of members for both sessions. For the recording, Tideswell Male Voice Choir were joined by their superb accompanist Christopher Ellis as well as the Drummer Derrick McGill.
The CD recording contained a number of great Male Voice Choir numbers but also included a selection of songs from Les Miserables. For these, the choir were joined by soloists, Erin Alexander, Charlotte Hoather, Madeleine Osborne and Philip Rigley.
The venue chosen actually had a proper area set up for our production desk which made things a lot easier and meant we could sit outside of the acoustic space.
The recording was 2 very long days and Dennis certainly got the most out of the choir in this time. In fact the final CD, with some carefully editing was only just under the 80 minutes maximum which will fit onto a CD. That’s certainly one way of giving your customers value for money!
