Earlier this year, 4 Part Music were contracted to record a Christmas CD with the Chamber Choir at King’s High School for Girls in Warwick. This recording had been many months in the planning and there was a wide range of music to be recorded ranging from Salva Nos to The Lamb via Candy Cane Lane.
Certainly there was an eclectic mix of music to be recorded and this already told us we were dealing with a very good School Choir. Indeed the Chamber Choir at King’s High in Warwick, Directed by Matthew Smallwood, has a very good reputation for the quality of its singing. Our job, as always, was to do the best we could to ensure the quality of their performance was captured in every detail on a CD recording.
The recording session was undertaken over a 2 day period in January of this year, which is often a sensible time to record Christmas repertoire, on the assumption it will have been performed just before Christmas. We then spent at day with Matthew Smallwood in our Bath studio going through the tracks in detail and giving him a chance to listen to the overall balance and have significant input in the production process.
Following sign off of the audio and artwork, the CD’s were delivered to the school in the final week of the Summer Term and we hope they turn out to be a great success.
