Just before Easter, we travelled to Kent to record the motet choir of Tonbridge Grammar School. The venue was St Martin’s Church in Brasted for our recording with the Motet Choir directed by Deputy Head Mr Adrian Pitts.
On arrival in Brasted it was pouring with rain, which is never ideal, but luckily we were met by the vicar and parking was fairly near the main entrance to the church. With an extra pair of hands it didn’t take long to get everything into the church. We then started to set up. This recording required the full kit including playback through speakers plus multiple pairs of headphones.
As well as recording the choir we also had the pleasure of recording the 1992 Walker Organ in the church. This meant careful placement of the choir to get the right balance.
The motet choir arrived around 9.30am and we recorded until mid afternoon, capturing 8 songs for their forthcoming album. Some are with organ and some with piano as well as an A Capella number. The album is currently in production and should be available after the Easter break.
