Multitrack mixing occurs when you blend together a number of individually recorded mono tracks from a recording session to create a stereo image.
A lot of musicians nowadays will record their own music to a reasonably high standard using either a MAC or PC based DAW and a few reasonable quality microphones. This is a good idea if you are recording with a limited budget. However, the trick to creating a really great sounding mix still lies in post production. Even with the very best microphones and recording gear there is a lot of work which is done in the studio after the recording.
This is where we can help. We often find with recordings sent in to us that although the recording of individual instruments is fine, the mix just doesn’t do it any justice which is primarily down to a lack of experience in post-production techniques. The mixing process will also include the addition of effects and processing to produce a full blended sound which works on a variety of playback devices.
Using a 3rd Party Mastering Studio
It can often be a good idea to get the perspective from somone outside of your band or group who can be objective as regards the mix and the balance of the sound. We can also help with song arrangements and instrumentation options either in post production or using a balance of the tracks recorded if they were recorded in isolation.
We are happy to take on projects at any stage to their completion. Please feel free to contact us to discuss how we can help you turn your recording into something you will be really proud of.
